Templecon charity project: Stormblade Captain

As you read this, the Stormblade Capt will be making his way cross country to the waiting hands of the fine folks who are running the Templecon charity project. Hopefully he'll find himself a good home and help support a worthy cause.

For the base I went with the suggestion of flagstone. I used miliput and sculpted out each stone and used a sponge to give texture to the surface. Some of the stone are cracked and to do this look I carved a fine line through the stone and used the sponge to flatten the area giving a more natural look.

It may not be obvious from the photos but there are eight different shades of color adorning the flagstone. I used several tones of brown and green paint then once that dried I took my pastels (grey, red, purple, blue, yellow, and flesh) to the stones. The pastels gave a translucent shading effect to each area and helped with the overall look.

Enjoy the photos below and if you have any questions I'll be sure to answer them in the comments.

Cheers,
WC

Cygnar, Tempest Blazers

Well, here you have the combined efforts of two Geek Garagers. Grim and I painted these collaboratively as a commission for a friend.

Grim was tasked with painting up the horses, and I was to paint the riders. For my part, I cant say I had a lot of fun painting them. The sculpts are bad news, but I am happy with how they turned out.
It was very cool however, to have such awesomely painted horses ready to glue the riders to when they were done.

I would like to try more collaborative projects in the future, as it was pretty cool to see them come   together from two very different paint styles!

Journeymen league: The Aftermath

Hello folks,

After collecting a surprisingly large amount of Khador as payment for commissions I finally got around to learning how to play the game of Warmachines. So last fall a Journeymen League started up at the local game store and I participated as much as I could. College courses kept my play time limited but I was able to get some hobby time in and paint up some of my collection.

For the league I played with pButcher and his battle group which is an alternative to the standard battle group box. The league finished up in December right around all the holidays and I'm sure some of you can attest that time of the year is frantic with family time, so this post is a little late. Here is a showcase of everything I painted during the league. In total I ended up with 52 points and coming in second overall.

Also built up a second light box since I loaned my first one out to a friend. If anyone wants to see how I made it, let me know in the comments.

Cheers,
Wildchevy

Thursday WIPs

He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!  Haha.  Well I decided to crawl out from under my blog rock and get another WIP post in.  It has been quite awhile since I have jumped onto the blog-o-sphere and for that I apologize.

Now enough of the blubbering.  I helped to kickstart Wild West Exodus (WWX) recently and as such the figures for this game have been on my paint table.  While my first love in WWX was the Warrior Nation, due to some other people in the local meta also having that faction I decided to work on my Union Army to start.

I will be entering this crew into the paint competition on the Wild west exodus forums... swing on by and join in if you feel so inclined.

This will be specifically a WIP of a Union Army Long Ranged Hired Hand.

The beginning:
