Scotty's IMC prize WIP: Circle Orboros

Just a real quick update on how the Circle battle box is coming along for my IMC prize.

I was following the studio scheme fairly close at first but as I layed down the black on the armor filigree so the gold could go on smoother, I had to pause for a second, and I realized I really liked the black with the green quite a bit.

What are your thoughts on this, should I continue on and do the gold as originally planned or throw some highlights on that black and call it good?

More updates soon!

Panda's IMC Prize WIP: Gorman Di Wulfe

Here is my contribution to our prize support for the upcoming Intermountain Cup!

I've attempted my first piece of OSL on him and am super happy with how he is turning out so far. Obviously my transitions are not the greatest currently but I will be smoothing them out in the future before he's finished.

IMC prize WIP: Gatorman Witch Doctor

My contribution to the prize support for IMC.  Still a bunch to do on this fellow, but I have the basic shading done on the cloth areas, they are going to stay a little dark as there is so much detail on the rope "webbing" all over it.  The skin is coming along nicely and despite my urge to shove paint brushes in my eye, the individual scale highlighting is starting to take shape.  :)  More updates to follow soon as a few areas tidy up.

I have BIG plans for the base ... they must remain secret for now, but if all goes well I hope the base I am working on will be pretty impressive.

Scotty's IMC Prize WIP

Well, unfortunately I cant even call this much of a WIP yet even though I have put a few hours into them at this point.
These figs had been through some rough times when they got to me, but a dip, soak and scrub with acetone got em back in shape and ready to assemble.
Just have a bit of green stuffing to do and the I can prime and catch up to the pack on this project!
This will be the 3rd time I have painted up the classic Circle starter, so it ought to be a breeze once I get started.

Stay tuned for some actual paint progress soon .

Grim's IMC Prize Support

Alright folks in case you didn't hear, we here at Geek Garage are currently sponsoring the Inter-Mountain Cup, IMC, this is a Warmachine/Hordes tournament, this year it happens to be a Warmachine Weekend Qualifying tournament as well.

We as a crew here at the Garage decided to offer up some support for our local press gangers.  So we did what we love best... Painted some figs.  We will be using these painted figs as prize support during the tournament, some will be raffled end of the later rounds of the tourney and others will be given away to best painted army, and best painted battle group.

All in all this should be a whole lot of fun.  We hope to have a long and fun partnership with the IMC.

Now with that said here is my entry:

They are covers for those horrible skull pits on the GW terrain boards. Oh btw, the portable table is finished and packs up neatly as shown above. Nice!
What do you think this is?

Warhammer 40k Event and some Custom Boards!

Warhammer 40k Event and some Custom Boards!

Thought I'd share some photos of the event this past weekend.  I hold a 40k event every other month at Endzone Games in Clearfield Utah.  The focus on these events is leass tournament and more of an event to come out and play some friendly games.  We had 18 folks attend, some new faces and others old familiar friends.  Between entry fees and some contributions from the store, we gave out around $350 in store credit and gaming accessories as well as some custom terrain(ammo dumps and fuel reserves).  At every event i try to include as many door prizes as i can, and giving away the terrain peices seemed like a good idea and a way to explore some of the new battlefield debris that are in the new 6th edition rule set.

Endzone, Event, TournamentAlso included here in the pics are some shots of the themed tables I added for the event.  A volcanic table, a city streeets table and an updated winter table(the old one was based on a roll of white felt).  These turned out pretty well and recieved lots of compliments, so I think the effort paid off in the end.  I'm aiming to add another few themed tables for the next one a few months down the road as well.  The next ones up are an airfield table, a trench table, and a tropical islands table, so hopefully those will be interesting and well recieved next time as well!

Confrontation: Azahir the insane

Finished this guy up just the other night. Had a lot of fun painting him. At first glance I wasn't too impressed with the sculpt, it being one of the older ones and all. But as is usually the case with these figs, there was a lot more to him than I initially thought.

More after the jump....
